Overview 
The second annual O'Reilly Perl Conference will be held August
17-20, 1998 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California The
conference will feature two days of tutorials followed by a two
day conference. The conference will include sessions for
submitted papers on practical and experimental uses of Perl;
invited presentations; daily Q and A sessions with leading
Perl developers and trainers; a by-invitation Developers
Workshop; and nightly user-organized Birds-of-a-Feather sessions
for special interest groups.


Cash Prizes 
O'Reilly and Associates will award six prizes of $1000 U.S. each
to authors of the best papers in six categories, as judged by
the program committee. The winners will be announced at the
conference. The prize categories are:

* Best new module (module must not have been published before 
February 1 1998)

* Best system administration tool (with special consideration for
cross-platform administration)

* Best software development tool

* Best web application

* Best end-user application (excluding those delivered via 
the world wide web)

* The Larry Wall Award for Practical Utility
